Dolly"s Doggie Treats:
(& other pet recipes --keep reading....)
Rover's Rollovers
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup corn meal
2/3 cup yeast powder with garlic (available at pet stores)
2 Tspns garlic powder
1/2 Tspn salt
2 egg yolks
3 beef or chicken boullion cubes dissolved in 1 1/2 cups water
Mix well and roll out half of dough at at time to 1/8" thickness no need to
be too fussy about this. Cut into desired shapes. I have dog bones or use
regular cookie cutters for holidays. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes on
ungreased cookie sheet. Turn off over and leave biscuits in over till dry and
crunchy. I usually put these in a cell bag with a pretty tie. Don't worry about
shelf life they are usually gone pretty quick.

Bird Feeders (requires adult supervision)
Ingredients : bird seed, cooked chopped vegetables, oatmeal, nuts, lard, empty clean yogurt cup and tree branch
Put about 1/2 cup of each dry ingredient in a small bowl and mix. Meanwhile the supervising adult melts lard and pours over dry mixture. Add enough melted lard to moisten. Spoon into empty yogurt cup, packing down firmly. Insert branch into center. Let it sit for about an hour until the lard cools and hardens. Carefully remove from the cup and hang out of doors. Changing the ingredients used in the feeder alters the birds it attracts. Play around with the recipe to see what birds visit. Make a few feeders containing variations on the basic recipe, and keep a bird watching journal to track the feeding habits.
